2025 DMV Action Championship

This tournament is open to everyone (adults and children of any skill level).
D.M.V. area residency is not required to participate.
Six-round Swiss tournament.
- This tournament will feature Monrad pairings, which is a variation on Swiss pairings that reduces mismatches. The use of Monrad pairings eliminates the need for multiple sections as players are often paired against closely related opponents, especially in early rounds. - Up to three half-point byes allowed. Byes are allowed for all rounds. The deadline to request byes is before the start of round four.
US Chess regular and quick rated. Time control: Game in 30 minutes with a 5-second delay.
Sunday, May 18, rounds at 11 am, 1 pm, 2:30 pm, 4 pm, 5:30 pm, and 7 pm
Registration closes at 10:30 am on May 18th
Entry fee: $45 on or before 5/4, $50 on or before 5/12, $55 on or before 5/17, $60 on the day of the event
PRIZES: $500 for 1st, $250 for 2nd, $100 for 3rd, $100 top U1900, $100 top U1600, $100 top U1200, $50 top U900, top U800 Junior Player (free entry into our Tuesday 400-1000 online class for the month of June)
Chess sets are provided for all players, but clocks are not provided. If you have a clock, please bring one.
